Turn on two-factor authentication

A 6-digit code from an authenticator app on every new sign-in, so a stolen password is not enough.

  1. 1

Open Settings and find Manage 2FA. The badge next to it reads Off or Enabled.

  2. 2

Choose Setup 2 Factor Authentication. A QR code appears.

  3. 3

Scan it with an authenticator app — Authy, Google Authenticator, 1Password and most others work. Can't scan it? Copy the key shown underneath and type it into the app instead.

  4. 4

Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and press Turn on 2FA. The badge changes to Enabled.

Worth doing if you earn on Collect Fans: 2FA protects the payout settings as well as the account.

Signing in afterwards

After your password or social sign-in, you are asked for the 6-digit code from your app. The codes change every 30 seconds, so always read the current one rather than an old screenshot.

  • Until the code is entered, the account is signed in but locked: posting, paying and payouts are all refused with “Enter your two-factor authentication code to continue.”

  • “That code is not valid” almost always means the code expired while you typed it, or your phone's clock has drifted. Wait for the next code, and turn on automatic time on your phone.

Turning it off

  1. 1

    Settings → Manage 2FA → Turn off 2FA.

  2. 2

Enter the current code from your authenticator app to confirm. This is deliberate: someone who grabs an open session still cannot remove your second factor without the phone.

If you lose the phone

There are no printed backup codes on Collect Fans, so losing the authenticator app means losing the second factor. Contact support from the email address on your account and the team will verify you before removing it.

Before you change or wipe a phone, either turn 2FA off first or move the account across in the authenticator app — both Authy and Google Authenticator can transfer accounts to a new device.
